Chris Walker Receives the Jud Larson Award from CARB

Sprint car driver, Chris Walker, was presented the Jud Larson Award at the Central Auto Racing Boosters’ Banquet on December 5th in Kansas City, MO.  The Larson Award recognizes a driver in a traveling series who has finished high in the points and resides within 50 miles of Kansas City.  Walker competed with the Winged Outlaw Warriors in 2009 where he drove the Santa Fe Glass sponsored sprinter to a third place finish in season points.  The fourth generation driver, was in attendance at all 15 WOW events and accumulated 14 A-Main starts, 3 top 5’s, and 6 top 10’s.

When Walker in not behind the wheel of a sprint car, he is behind a book or a computer working as a full time student at University of Central Missouri-Warrensburg.  The twenty year old is a graphic arts major.

The names Walker and Larson goes back to 1949 when Jud Larson moved to Kansas City from Austin, TX.  It was during this time Larson met and formed a friendship with Chris’ great-grandfather, Charles “Pappy” Walker.  Jud wheeled the #37 for Pappy at Olympic Stadium from 1951-1954.  The team reunited in 1957 when Walker built Jud a car to race at the Missouri State Fair.

Larson’s open wheel career led him to the 1956 Silver Crown Championship and several starts at the Indianapolis 500.  He raced for almost 30 years and was a dirt track legacy.  In 1968, Jud was inducted into the Indy Hall of Fame and in 1992 received an induction into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Walker began his racing career at the age of seven racing go-karts in Liberty, MO.  He experienced success from the start by earning the Rookie Division Championship.  Chris continued to drive karts for four more years on a local and national level.

In 2001, Chris advanced to competing with adult racers in the modified midgets at Sweet Springs Motor Complex.  Walker took his driving skills, determination, and competitive spirit to the national level with the National Modified Midget Association in 2002.  He competed in seven states winning 2 features and finished in the top 10 in points at the Season Championships out of a field of 65 cars from across the nation.  The next two years brought more accomplishments with NMMA in the form of 5 more feature wins and a Rookie of the Year Award in the “A” Class with NMMA.

Don Williams gave Chris the opportunity to drive a sprint car in 2005.  In November of 2005, Chris qualified for the All American Driver Challenge.  Walker continued to refine his driving skills by attending the Smiley Sitton’s Outlaw Driving School in 2006.  The training resulted in Walker earning the 305 track championship at Butler Motor Speedway.

In January 2007, Chris began the racing season by competing in the 21st Annual Chili Bowl, the largest midget race in the United States, behind the wheel of Lehman’s Racing midget.  He continued to drive for Lehman’s in the POWRi  and SMRS series.  He also began driving the family owned 360-sprint racing with the Winged Outlaw Warriors and selected ASCS events.  Chris continued to campaign with the WOW sprints in 2008 earning 2 top 5’s and 5 top 10’s.

Fisher Makes It Three In A Row At Moberly

Moberly, MO(September 19th, 2009)-
By Chad Buford

Continuing his strong September, Josh Fisher made it three wins in a row with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors on Saturday night at 24 Raceway.

Chris Walker took the lead at the start of the A Main as he was followed by Fisher and Austin Alumbaugh.  Fisher got by Walker to lead lap two as the lead duo was followed by Alumbaugh, Curtis Boyer, and Mark Shirshekan.

Lap three would see Alumbaugh charge into the lead as he was able to get by Walker and Fisher.  Jonathan Cornell had also worked his way into the top five as he was able to get by Shirshekan.
The top five would remain the same over the next several laps and on lap ten, Cornell was able to move past Boyer and into fourth.

Lap twelve would prove disastrous for Alumbaugh as he came to a stop with a flat tire.  His crew would be able to change the tire, but he also had a damaged Jacob’s ladder and would run the remainder of the race to try and maintain his second place position in the season point standings.

Fisher would lead on the restart as Cornell was able to work by Walker and into second.
Shirshekan worked his way past Walker and into third on lap fourteen.    Another driver who was steadily moving up was Don Droud Jr. as he got by Walker for fourth on lap sixteen.  Also moving forward was Jon Corbin, who got by Walker for fifth a lap later.

Fisher would go on to his fifth WOW win of the season and his tenth career win in the Ozark Barge and Dock Service/Impact Signs and Wraps Maxim with Singer power.  Cornell ran second in the Kiowa Line Builders Maxim with Ostrich power.  Shirshekan would run third followed by Droud Jr. and Corbin.  Walker would hold onto sixth as he was followed by Boyer and Rusty Potter.  Josh Padellford and Frank Brown rounded out the top ten.

The Winged Outlaw Warriors will complete their season when they run a co-sanctioned show with the ASCS National Tour next Saturday September 26th at the Lucas Oil Motor Speedway in Wheatland, MO.

Fisher Outlasts the Competition at Grain Valley

Grain Valley, MO(September 11th)-
by Chad Buford

Leading from start to finish, Josh Fisher won a wild race at Valley Speedway Friday night.  The win was Fisher’s fifth of the season in O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warrior competition and the ninth career win for the Smithton sensation.

The original start would see the start of many yellow and red flags as Mitchell Moore, Jay Russell, and J.D. Black got together in turn four with Moore having too much damage to continue.  When the field got the green on the restart, Fisher would take the lead as he was followed by polesitter Bradlee Ryun.  Just behind the lead duo a good battle was taking place between Cody Baker, Jesse Hockett, and Brian Brown as some intense slide jobs were taking place.

The yellow would come out again with two laps complete as Chris Walker was contacted by Curtis Boyer on the frontstretch.  With no brakes, Walker went over the bank in between turns one and two lodging his car into the guardrail. Walker was not injured.
When the green reappeared, Fisher led as Hockett slid Ryun in turn two and the pair appeared to make contact costing the impressive Higginsville youngster multiple positions.  With four laps complete, Tyler Blank made contact with Jeff Lowery in turn two.  Terry Hinck was left with no where to go and got into Lowery and then flipped.  Lowery and Hinck would be done for the evening as Blank would change a tire and restart at the tail.

Once green again, Fisher would jump out to a comfortable lead as he was followed by Hockett, Brown, Baker and Ryun. On lap six, the yellow would come out for Tony Crank and Frank Brown, who spun in turn four.  After getting another lap in, the strange night would get even stranger as multiple yellows would come out in succession. Frank Brown spun and would not continue.  Then, Rusty Potter looped his car on the backstretch as J.D. Black spun around trying to avoid him.   On the third attempt to get another lap in the books, Jeff Wingate looped his car in turn four.  A short while later, Potter would spin off the track in turn two ending his evening.  As the field took green again, Brian Brown, who had been battling Hockett for second on each restart, slowed with brake problems.  Just behind him, Jay Russell had the front wheel damaged from contact with another car.  Both Brown and Russell would not continue.

With half of the original starting field now pitside, Fisher would again lead on the restart.  Behind him, Jonathan Cornell shot forward as he got by Baker and then Hockett.  Hockett would work back by Cornell before the pair got to the flagstand.
The final yellow would come out for Ryun who rolled to a stop in turn one ending a top five run.

Once restarted, nobody had an answer for Fisher, who was the dominant car throughout the race in the Impact Signs and Wraps Singer-powered Maxim.  Hockett would run second in the Hockett Racing Frankenstein.  Cornell ran third in the Kiowa Line Builders Maxim as Blank rebounded from his earlier problem to finish fourth in the Blank’s Backhoe Maxim with Baker rounding out the top five.  Austin Alumbaugh ran sixth followed by Boyer, Curtis Evans, Tony Crank, and Black.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors will next be in action next Saturday September 19th at the 24 Raceway in Moberly, MO.

Fisher Flies Through the Fog to Land $4000 Pay Day at Lake Ozark Nationals

The late night fog over Lake Ozark Speedway didn’t impede Josh Fisher’s vision of victory during the running of the 6th Annual LOS Nationals santciond by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors.  Fisher kept the Impact Signs and Wraps/Ozark Barge and Dock Service Maxim near the front capatizing on each caution flag.

Jack Dover dominated the first 12 circuits only to fall victim of a flat tire.   Dover was able to restart on the tail with Brady Bacon the new race leader.  Bacon, Mark Shirshekan and Josh Fisher battled until the first and second place cars tangled with Jeff Wingate on lap 25.  Neither Bacon or Shirshekan were able to restart allowing Fisher to inherit the lead for the final five laps.  Fisher was challenged by Tony Bruce, Jr, who had started 15th in the 30 lap feature event.  Randy Martin claimed third followed by Jack Dover from the back of the pack.  Adam Jones rounded out the top five.

Brown Wins Missouri State Fair Championship

by Chad Buford
Sedalia, MO(August 23rd)-
Returning to a track where he’s had great success over the years, Brian Brown scored another win at the Missouri State Fair Speedway Sunday night in the co-sanctioned race by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors and ASCS Midwest.

Jack Dover led the field as the green flag flew as Brown moved from his outside fourth-row starting position to second by the time one lap was completed.  On lap two, the red flag would come out for a Cody Baker tumble over the guardrail between turns one and two.  Baker was uninjured and would not restart.  On the restart, Dover led with Brown on his heels.  Brown would make a move off of turn four and beat Dover in a drag race to the stripe to lead lap two.  From here, Brown would drive away from the field,  but great battles were taking place behind him between a handful of drivers.

With five laps in the books, Brown led and Dover continued in second.  Randy Martin, Jesse Hockett, and Jonathan Cornell rounded out the top five.  With Brown continuing to lead by  large margin, the crowd would be entertained by the battle between Martin and Hockett for third as the pair started to gain on Dover for second.  Another battle was Cornell and Jon Corbin for fifth as the pair traded the spot back and forth.

Hockett would finally get by Martin for good on lap eleven and would set his sights on Dover.  On lap seventeen, Hockett would get by Dover, but as the leaders approached lapped traffic, Dover would work his way back by Hockett.  Brown’s once big lead had been cut down as he struggled getting by lapped traffic.  Once by the lapped cars, Brown’s lead would again stretch out  as Dover and Hockett continued their torrid battle for second.

The field would have one more shot at Brown as the action would come to a stop on lap twenty three as Rusty Potter rolled to a stop in turn two ending his evening.  On the first attempt at a restart,  Don Droud Jr. rolled to a stop in turn two and his evening was over as well.On the next restart, Brown would jump out to a big lead as Hockett continued to battle Dover for second.  As Hockett worked to get by Dover, the pair made contact causing Dover to scrub off a lot of speed.  This allowed both Hockett and Martin to get by relegating Dover to fourth.

Brown would lead the final laps to take his thirty fourth career WOW win in his Factory Value Parts Maxim with Ostrich power.  Hockett would take second in the Buch/VKCC JEI with RMS power.  Martin ran a strong third in his Diamond Pet Foods J&J with Eckley power.  Dover would settle for fourth in the Swenson Schnee with Eckley power.  Rounding out the top five was Cornell in the Kiowa Line Builders Maxim with Ostrich power.  Corbin ran a solid sixth with Chad Humston, Josh Fisher, Austen Wheatley, and Mark Shirshekan rounding out the top ten.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors will be in action this Friday August 29th as they have another co-sanctioned race with ASCS Midwest at the  US 36 Raceway in Osborn, MO.

West Plains, MO(August 22nd)-With a weekend off from his normal ride at Knoxville, Don Droud Jr. jumped into a familiar ride to take home the top prize at West Plains Motor Speedway Saturday night.

On the initial start,  second-starting Austin Alumbaugh got sideways in between turns one and two and was hit by second-row outside starter Dustin Barks, who was left with no place to go.  Both drivers would suffer too much damage to continue.  On the second attempt at green, Tyler Blank jumped into the lead from the pole and was chased by Curtis Boyer, Josh Fisher, and Droud Jr.  Fisher would get by Boyer on lap two and a lap later, Droud  would take third from Boyer.  The top three would run the same for the next five laps as Boyer and Walker rounded out the top five to this point.

The action would come to a stop on lap eight as Rusty Potter spun in between turns three and four.  Potter would lose his sixth place position, but would be able to restart.  On lap nine, Droud  would work his way past Fisher for second as Blank continued to lead.  Boyer and Walker continued in the fourth and fifth positions.  Walker would get by Boyer for fourth on lap twelve as the top three remained the same.

As the laps started to wind down, it appeared that Blank was on his way to his first career O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warrior win, but lady luck had other plans when fourth-running Walker came to a stop with apparent brake problems with fifteen laps in the books.

This was the break that Droud needed as he was able to get one more shot at Blank.  Droud followed Blank closely through turns one and two on the restart and got a good run down the backstretch as he slid up in front of Blank in between turns three and four.  Once in front, the Lincoln, NE pilot would not be challenged as he picked up his first career Winged Outlaw Warrior win in the Jeff and Jerry Smith Eagle with Smith power.  Blank would run a strong second in his Blank’s Backhoe Maxim with Patriot power.  Current points leader Fisher ran third in the Impact Signs and Wraps Maxim with Singer power.   Boyer ran a solid fourth in the Hagedorn Collision Repair Eagle.  Tony Crank rounded out the top five in his Eagle with Engine Connection power after getting back by Potter on the last lap.  Following Potter was Steven Cross as Dakota Carroll, Frank Brown, and Dale McCarty rounded out the top ten.

The Winged Outlaw Warriors jump back into action Sunday August 23rd as they run a co-sanctioned show with ASCS Midwest at the annual Missouri State Fair race.

Martin Wins Clyde Wood Memorial

By Chad Buford
California, MO(July 26th)-Taking control on a lap nineteen restart, Randy Martin won the 7th Annual Clyde Wood Memorial at Double X Speedway with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors on Sunday night.

Kyle Bellm jumped into the lead in the Christian County Collision Repair J&J followed by Martin and Curtis Boyer. Bellm had moved out to a comfortable lead on lap three when the red flag was thrown for John Hillman, who flipped in turn three after contact with another car.  On the restart, Bellm again took control and was followed by Martin, Boyer, and Rusty Potter.  The order would stay this way until lap six when sixth place Adam Jones came to a stop on the frontstretch with terminal motor problems.

Martin would try a slidejob in turn one on the restart, but Bellm was able to maneuver around and keep the lead.  Lanny Carpenter would make his presence known as he  moved past both Boyer and Potter to take over third on lap seven.   Bellm would continue to motor around the top as he was moving into lapped traffic over the next few laps.  On lap thirteen, Bellm climbed the cushion in turn four smacking the wall.  The contact would prove to be a problem later in the race as Bellm continued looking for his first career victory.  Just behind the leaders, Jonathan Cornell, who had moved into the top four was making a bid for third when he made contact with Carpenter in turn one. Cornell would come to a stop on top of Carpenter’s  Maxim as Bradley Potter and Austin Alumbaugh were also involved.  Potter would suffer too much damage to continue, as the trio of other drivers would restart at the tail.

Bellm again jumped into the lead as he was followed by Martin and Boyer.  Over the next few laps, Martin would draw closer to Bellm as Boyer continued to run third and Josh Fisher entered into the lead pack.  As Fisher battled with Boyer for third, the pair made contact and Fisher went over the front of Boyer’s Eagle down the frontstretch.  Boyer’s front end was damaged and he slid into the frontstetch wall ending his fine run.

On the lap nineteen restart,  Martin would put a slidejob on Bellm in between turns one and two and take over the lead.  Bellm then jumped the cushion going down the backstetch  as he was passed by Fisher and Potter.  His already damaged car would suffer too much damage as he again made contact with the backstretch wall.  Bellm would pull into the pits ending his dominant run.

Martin would continue to lead over the last few laps and go on to his third WOW win of the season in the Diamond Pet Foods Maxim with Eckley power.  Fisher was second in the  Impact Sign and Wraps Maxim with Singer power.  Potter ran a strong third in his Potter Trucking/Roy Cary Machinery and Livestock Maxim with Ostrich power.  Tyler Blank ran fourth in his Blank’s Backhoe Maxim with Patriot power.  Chris Walker ran a steady fifth in the Santa Fe Glass Twister with Gaerte power.  Evan Martin came from seventeenth to sixth in the Heidlebreder Foundation Maxim with Eckley power.  Tony Crank continued his steady runs with a seventh in his Peak Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Eagle with Engine Connection power.  Frank Brown was eighth in the Brown Farms F5 with Wesmar power.  Cornell and Carpenter would rebound from their earlier incident as the pair came back to ninth and tenth.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors will take nearly a month off as they will next be in action on Saturday August 22nd at West Plains Speedway followed by a co-sanctioned event at the Missouri State Fair Speedway with ASCS Midwest on Sunday August 23rd.

Fisher Wins at Double X

By Chad Buford

California, MO(July 3rd)-Adding to his O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warrior point lead, Josh Fisher scored his third win of the season at Double X Speedway Friday night.

Four-time defending WOW champion Randy Martin jumped out into the lead in his Diamond Pet Foods J&J as he was chased by Curtis Evans and Fisher.  The action would come to a stop on lap two for a Frank Brown in turn two.  Lap three would see Martin again jumping into the lead with Fisher taking second away from Evans.  Evans would take second back on lap five as a yellow would come out for Tyler Blank, who spun between turns one and two.  Martin again flew to the lead on the high side as Evans and Fisher gave chase.  Lap eight would see the yellow fly again for Frank Brown, who spun off the track between turns one and two.

Martin would once again jump into the lead as Evans and Fisher continued to give chase.  Lap ten would see Fisher, who was running the bottom, get by Evans.  The next several laps would see Martin continuing to lead as Fisher started to reel in the leader. The excitement grew as a couple of laps the pair ran nearly side by side.  On lap seventeen, Fisher went by Martin and into the lead as Martin stayed close to the new leader.  After a yellow flag on lap eighteen, Martin changed his line and followed Fisher on the bottom and he made contact with the inside wall.  The contact broke a radius rod on the left front ending Martin’s night on lap nineteen.

On the restart with a lap nearly completed, disaster would strike second-place Evans as he rolled to a stop in turn four with terminal engine problems.  Fisher would again jump into the lead as Adam Jones, Evan Martin,  Mitchell Moore,  Rusty Potter, and Lanny Carpenter had a great battle for the next five positions over the last five laps.

Fisher would go on to the win in his Impact Signs and Wraps/Ozark Barge and Dock Service Maxim with Singer power.  Jones would run a strong second in the Wireless Horizon/Harry J’s Steak House Hovis-powered Maxim.  Martin would have a WOW career best finish of third in the Heidbreder Foundation Service Kistler/Maxim.  Potter ran a solid fourth in his Roy Cary Livestock and Machinery/Isle of Capri Casino Ostrich/Maxim.  Rounding out the top five was Carpenter in his Sierra Pool and Spas/Engine Connection Maxim.  Moore would run sixth in the Steve Neale Maxim with Bob Morton Enterprises power.  Jon Corbin ran seventh followed by Austin Alumbaugh.  Rounding out the top ten were Terry Hinck and Curtis Boyer.

Winged Outlaw Warrior Drivers Have Solid Showing at Lake Ozark

Jason Johnson aboard Lanny Row's The Shop Motorsports No. 41 Eagle, outran a stellar 53-car field in Saturday night's Third Annual Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lake Ozark Speedway.  "The Ragin' Cajun" led only the final six circuits for the $6,000 score over Shane Stewart.  Randy Martin set the pace for the first two laps before Tom Bryant took command by leading 27 of the 35 lap event.  Bryant was holding off intense challenges by Johnson during most of the circuits.  Bryant’s dream ride came to an end on lap 32 when he spun forcing the Jerry Bell owned entry to the tail.

Going up against some of the top 360 drivers in the country, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors had eight drivers make the A Main this past Saturday night as they competed against the Lucas Oil National Tour at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO.  The drivers making the A Main were Jesse Hockett, Randy Martin, Josh Fisher, Austin Alumbaugh, Chris Walker, Rusty Potter, Frank Brown, and Mitchell Moore.
Part-time competitor Hockett had the top showing with a seventh place finish.  Martin led the first two laps and he would eventually finish tenth.  Fisher finished sixteenth, with Alumbaugh coming home eighteenth and Walker nineteenth.  Potter and Brown would finish twentieth and twenty-first respectively.  Moore would come home twenty-second to round out the A Main qualifiers.

Winged Outlaw Warriors return to racing action Friday night, July 3, at Double X Speedway in California, MO.

Hockett Wins Budweiser Shootout

by Chad Buford
Osborn, MO(June 19th)-Taking control of the race on lap twelve, Jesse Hockett went on to his ninth career O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors win on Friday night at US 36 Raceway.  A large field of thirty four cars were on hand as the Winged Outlaw Warriors and ASCS Midwest co-sanctioned the annual Budweiser Shootout.

Brian Brown jumped into the lead followed by Josh Fisher early on.  Fisher would battle Brown for the lead throughout the first seven laps before the action would be stopped for a tangle between Derrik Ortega and Bronson Maeschen.  Both drivers would have too much damage to continue.  On the restart, Mitchell Moore flipped his Steve Neale mount in turn two to stop the action again.

On the restart, Fisher would again apply pressure to Brown, but Hockett, who started thirteenth,  was able to get by Fisher and apply heavy pressure to Brown over the next couple of laps.  On lap twelve, Hockett was able to make a nice low move in heavy lapped traffic to get by Brown for the top spot.  The race was essentially over as Hockett would extend his lead to nearly a half lap.

With Hockett comfortably in front,  the battle for second between Brown, Fisher, and Chad Humston picked up.  On lap seventeen, Humston worked his way past Fisher for third.  Humston would get by Brown a couple of laps later for the runner-up spot.

With twenty one laps complete, the red flag would be thrown for a Chris Morgan flip in turn two giving the competition one last shot at Hockett.   With three lapped cars in between himself and Humston, Hockett would again jump out to a huge lead in his VKCC Motorsports JEI with an RMS engine.  Humston ran a strong second in the Engler Machine and Tool WolfWeld with a Burch powerplant under the hood.  Mike Boston came from seventeenth to third in his Select Auto Eckley/Maxim.  Brown would hold on to fourth in the Super Clean Maxim with Ostrich power.  Fisher ran a solid fifth in the Ozark Barge and Dock Service Singer/Maxim.  With his strong finish and with Randy Martin being absent from tonight’s race, Fisher is the new WOW point leader.   Jack Dover passed more cars than anybody on the night as he had trouble in the B and restarted at the tail.  He was able to move past eight cars and back into a transfer spot and he then passed fourteen cars in the A in the Terry’s Body Shop Eckley/ Schnee.  Lee Grosz was seventh in the Bergstrom Electric Wesmar/J&J.  Rounding out the  top ten were Don Droud Jr, Trevor Grossenbacher, and Jason Danley.

The Winged Outlaw Warriors will next race on Saturday June 27th at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO along with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series.

Martin Masters WOW at Double X

By – Chad Buford

California, MO(May 24th)-Showing the skill that has made him the four-time defending O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warrior champion, Randy Martin scored his second victory of the 2009 season at Double X Speeway Sunday night.  At the drop of the green flag, Curtis Boyer jumped into the lead, but before a lap could be completed, the yellow would be thrown for a tangle between Don Droud Jr. and Evan Martin in turn four.  Martin would be unable to continue.

When racing resumed, Boyer again would take the lead as Martin was able to move into second followed by Josh Fisher.  With Boyer running the high line along with Martin, Fisher started making up ground running the bottom line.  For the next few laps, the spots would remain the same, but Fisher continued to cut into the lead. On lap eight, Fisher got by Martin and set his sights on Boyer.  A lap later, Fisher got by Boyer for the lead as Boyer kept within striking distance.

By lap thirteen, Martin and Curtis Evans were able to work by Boyer, but before the lap could be completed, the yellow was thrown for Forest Sutherland, who had spun off the track between turns one and two.  On the lap thirteen restart, Martin was able to work by Boyer for second and he set his sights on Fisher.  Behind the lead duo of Fisher and Martin, Evans and Jonathan Cornell were pressuring Boyer for third.

Martin was flying on the high side and went by Fisher for the lead on lap fifteen as Cornell was pressuring Boyer for third.  Lap eighteen would see Fisher reeling back in Martin for the lead as Cornell would finally  work his way past Boyer for third.  A lap later, Fisher would go back under Martin for the lead as the yellow flag flew for an Austin Alumbaugh spin in between turns one and two.  The yellow was unfortunate for Fisher as he would have to restart second.

On the restart, Martin would jump out to the lead as Fisher would set chase again over the final seven laps.  Martin would get a sizeable lead, but over the last couple of laps, Fisher was inching closer to Martin.  As Martin came out of turn four to take the checkered flag, he jumped the cushion and as he came to the finish, he edged Fisher for his 38th career WOW win in his Diamond Pet Foods J&J.  Fisher ran a strong second in the Ozark Barge and Dock Service Maxim.  Cornell was just behind the lead duo in the Kiowa Line Builders Maxim.  Running fourth was Evans in the Arctic Cat Maxim.  Kyle Bellm charged from his fifteenth starting spot to finish fifth in the Christian County Collision Repair J&J.  Boyer ran a solid sixth followed  by Rusty Potter, who started seventeenth.  Rounding out the top ten were Terry Hinck, eighteenth starting Jeff Wingate, and Adam Jones.

The Winged Outlaw Warriors will next be in action on Friday June 12th at Midway Speedway in Lebanon, MO as the series makes its second ever appearance at the track.

Fisher Wins Gary Scott Memorial

By Chad Buford

Moberly, MO(May 23rd)- Driving a dominant race, Josh Fisher scored his fifth career O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warrior win Saturday night at 24 Raceway in the 10th Annual Gary Scott Memorial.

Fisher jumped into the lead and set a blistering pace as he was chased by outside starter Austin Alumbaugh throughout the 20 lapper.  Fisher had lapped up to sixth place Mitchell Moore when the only stoppage occurred on lap seventeen for Matt Fox and Terry Hinck, who made contact with one another on the front stretch.  Neither driver would be able to continue, ruining their opportunity for top ten finishes as they were eighth and ninth at the time.

Fisher would not be challenged over the final laps in his father Rusty’s Ozark Barge and Dock Service Maxim. The recent Smithton High School graduate would take the $1500 winner’s check.   Alumbaugh came home a strong second in his father Karrick’s Alumbaugh Heating and Cooling XXX.  Chris Walker ran a career best third in his father Larry’s Santa Fe Glass McGarry Chassis.  Current point leader Randy Martin crossed the finish line for fourth in the Diamond Pet Foods J&J followed by Rusty Potter in the Roy Cary Livestock and Machinery Maxim.  Mitchell Moore was sixth followed by Curtis Boyer.  Rounding out the top ten were Lanny Carpenter, Randall Roberts, and Tyler Blank.

The O’Reilly Winged Outlaw Warriors will be in action again on Sunday night at the Double X Speedway in California, MO.

Randy Martin currently holds a two point lead over Josh Fisher heading into action as the duo are closely followed by Chris Walker in third.

Martin Wins WOW’s-Kiowa Line Builders Season Opener at LA

LaMonte, MO(April 4th)
By Chad Buford

Looking for a fifth straight O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors title, Randy Martin won the rain-shortened Kiowa Line Builders A Main at LA Raceway Saturday night.

Brian Brown jumped into the lead from his outside row two starting spot followed by second starting Kyle Bellm, Rusty Potter, and Randy Martin.  Potter and Martin would have a fierce battle for third, as they closely followed Bellm.  Martin would finally take the third spot from Potter for good on lap seven.  Brown continued to lead, but Bellm and Martin would reel him in thanks to lapped traffic.  As the top three were able to free themselves from the traffic, fourth place Potter and fifth place Dustin Barks were not as lucky as they tangled in turn two.   Just moments later, second running Bellm would slide over the bank in turn four.  Bellm would do a 360, but he would lose his second spot as his car came to a stop.  The chain of events to three of the front runners would move Martin to second and Jesse Hockett up to third followed by Jon Corbin and Jonathan Cornell.

On the lap eleven restart, Martin would get by Brown in turns one and two, but as Martin slid up the track coming off of two, Brown would get back underneath.  Brown would feel pressure again from Martin, but would continue to lead.  The pressure from Martin would subside as he spun his tires in turn two a lap later allowing Brown to extend his lead.  As the laps began to dwindle, Brown would again have trouble with a lapped car allowing Martin to close in on him.  Brown would slide high in turn two and Martin would shoot underneath and into the lead.  As Brown spun his tires, Corbin, who had gotten by Hockett earlier, would make a run down the backstretch.  Corbin and Brown would go into three nearly side by side and the two made contact as neither gave ground for the second position.  The two made contact and went airborne over the bank in turn three flipping wildly as fourth running Hockett would have his top wing sheared off as he went underneath the airborne pair.   Luckily, both drivers would emerge unscathed from the violent flips.  Hockett, who was able to keep going, would then be forced to the work area during the red flag to repair his mangled wing.

As the field got ready to restart, Mother Nature had other ideas as the skies opened up and the final laps would not happen.  Martin was declared the winner as he picked up his 37th career win with WOW in the Diamond Pet Foods J&J.  Cornell would run second  in the Kiowa Line Builders Maxim followed by Frank Brown in the Viking Cleaners/Linda Brown Tax Service sprinter.  Don Droud Jr. would run fourth in the Jeff and Jerry Smith Eagle with Josh Fisher rounding out the top five in the Rusty Fisher Maxim.   Mark Shirshekan was sixth followed by Terry Hinck.  Dustin Selvage, Chris Walker, and Eric Todd would round out the top ten.

The night’s racing was marred by numerous red flags.  In hot laps, Ryan Marsch took a wild tumble over the bank in between turns three and four.  In heat two, Clint Todd climbed the wheel of a competitor and flipped hard over the bank in between turns three and four.  Bradlee Ryun got into the frontstretch wall at the start of heat four ending his night.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors will next be in action on Friday May 1st at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL as they support the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
