Cornell Continues ASCS Warrior Dominance With Randolph County Raceway Victory

MOBERLY, Mo. (September 3, 2016) For the six time in 2016, Jonathan Cornell was first to the checkered flag with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps as the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28 topped action at the Randolph County Raceway on Saturday, September 3.

Taking off from the fourth starting spot, Cornell gave chase to Randy Martin for only one lap. Taking over on the second round, Martin was able to keep pace for a handful of laps before slower traffic allowed Cornell to lay on the distance.

Slowed twice in the 25 lap A-Feature, Cornell was still able to lap into the top-ten.

Randy Martin settled for second with Taylor Walton posting an impressive run to third from the 12th starting spot. Jay Russell crossed fourth with Evan Martin fifth. Austin Alumbaugh was sixth with Chris Morgan seventh. Iowa’s John Schulz came from 13th to eighth with Corey Nelson and Danny Thoman make up the top-ten.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps returns to action at Lakeside Speedway on Friday, September 16 and Missouri State Fair Speedway on Saturday, September 17. Brian Brown Pockets $15,000 To Win Lucas Oil ASCS High Roller Classic

SEDALIA, Mo. (August 21, 2016) Denied the big prize in 2015, Brian Brown was all business as the Casey’s General Store/FVP No. 21 led start-to-finish in Sunday’s W-K Chevrolet High Roller Classic presented by Casey’s General Stores with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at Sedalia’s Missouri State Fair Speedway.

Brown’s second career National Tour triumph at the “Historic Half-Mile”, and 17th overall with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, the $15,000 payday was made all the sweeter as the Missouri native brought along the memory of Bryan Clauson.

“This win is for Bryan Clauson, Matt Wood Racing, and Elk Grove Ford. A lot of you may not know this, but that’s one of Bryan’s engines and Matt Wood let us borrow it so he’s been riding with us the whole night and all his crew guys are here. If we can bring a smile to their face just for a minute, it’s worth it,”

Rolling top-shelf into the race lead through the first two turns after starting third, Brown led Sam Hafertepe, Jr. and Josh Baughman through the opening laps. Challenged briefly by the No. 15h, following a restart on Lap 1, Brown was able to quickly extend his advantage with traffic coming into play on Lap 7.

Allowing Hafertepe to close, the caution would bring the field single file on the eighth circuit. With clean air to his advantage, Brown’s No. 21 powered away from the field. Meeting traffic again at the race’s half-way point, the gap between first and second was again cut down quickly by Sam Hafertepe, Jr. who now had Wayne Johnson to contend with for the runner-up spot. Taking the fight to the back of the field, Brown worked feverishly to keep Hafertepe and Johnson at bay before the caution again flew on Lap 22 for Brad Loyet.

To the green, the race on the track was for third as Josh Baughman, who had fallen as far back as sixth, was on the rebound. Denied the spot by Wayne Johnson, the final rounds were in sight with Brian Brown setting sail once again, but one last caution flew on Lap 28 for Kyle Bellm who lost an engine while running seventh.

Keeping the field to his back bumper, the race for the silver was three wide as Josh Baughman stormed the bottom groove to jump from fourth to second on the restart, but would not be able to catch the No. 21.

Baughman’s second podium of the weekend, the Texas native now has a dozen top-five finishes in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition in 56 feature starts.

“We had a great car, we’re just not good from the front row but we’re on the podium every night. I can’t say enough about my team. We’re there and I hope the wins come really soon. These guys work really hard,” said Baughman who was able to claim the runner-up spot despite the engine appearing to let down in the closing laps.

Able to follow Baughman by the No. 15h, Wayne Johnson put the City Vending No. 2c on the final podium step for the wily veteran’s fifth podium of the season.

“I’ve got to thank my guys, they’ve been busting their butts. We built this car is a couple of day here a couple weeks ago and we’ve been working on this thing ever since. This car is a Maxim and it’s really changed our year. We struggled and struggled but now, when me make adjustments to this thing, you can tell and it’s showing with the way we’re finishing.”

Commenting on the final restart, Johnson said, “I really figured Sam was going to block us on that last restart, so went to the top, and when I did, that opened the door for Josh to slide us both, but that’s part of it.”

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. would hold on for a fourth place finish with Danny Lasoski bringing the Team Jack Foundation No. 1m home fifth. Matt Covington from 11th crossed the line sixth with Terry McCarl charging from 17th to seventh. With mechanical issues sending the No. 28 to the pits early in the B-Main, a Promoter’s Provisional put the Sedalia driver 25th in the lineup with Cornell not wasting the chance with a run to eighth with Blake Hahn following in ninth.

Having won the B-Feature, Johnny Herrera was subsequently disqualified for going to his pit before reporting to the scales. While the No. 45x was stripped of the B-Main win, Herrera was still eligible to utilize a point’s based provisional and in doing so, was able to run from 23rd to tenth.

The Missouri State Fair Speedway saw 31 drivers in competition. Four Heat Races went to Brian Brown, Chris Morgan, Danny Lasoski, and Kyle Bellm. Terry McCarl was credited with the win in the B-Feature. Provisional starters numbered three with Danny Thoman in with 100% attendance with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps in 2016. Johnny Herrera used a point’s based provisional, and Jonathan Cornell was granted a Promoter’s Provisional.

The next event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network will be the AGCO Jackson Nationals at the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. with the National Sprint League. The Lucas Oil ASCS will complete on Friday, September 2 and Sunday, September 4 of the three day event.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Holds On For Lucas Oil ASCS Victory at St. Francois County Raceway

FARMINGTON, Mo. (August 20, 2016) The debut of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the St. Francois County Raceway came down to the final lap as Sam Hafertepe, Jr. narrowly held off local track champion, Joey Montgomery, at the line to win the Dean Adams Classic.

Leading from the drop of the green, the race’s third and final caution flew as the leaders took the white flag. Going back to the last fully completed lap, the final rounds were a dogfight as Hafertepe worked every inch of the quarter-mile oval to hold off Montgomery, who had marched to second from the 10th starting spot.

“I told everybody all night that No. 5 car was probably the best car here,” commented Sam who notched his seventh National Tour win of the season. “I knew he started back pretty far. We were so good for so long, I wasn’t sure where he was and I was getting through lapped traffic pretty good, but thank God the race wasn’t one more lap.”

Taking off from the outside of the front row, Hafertepe had to outrun Josh Baughman into the first two turns. Keeping the No. 17 at bay after several attempts at the lead through the opening laps, the Hwy. 79 Collision No. 15h found the back of the field on Lap 7.

Caution before being able to put many cars a lap down on Lap 9 for Derek Hagar, the restart was short lived as Brad Loyet and Jeff Masson rolled to a stop in turns one and two. Hager took advantage of the situation to return to the racing surface as he was still on the lead lap, but would still see his night end early.

Trying to keep pace with Hafertepe, the No. 17 of Josh Baughman had his hands full with Joey Montgomery. Working the Odessa, Texas racer to third after several laps, the leaders were again in slower traffic. Allowing the No. 5 to close the gap, the laps were clicking off faster than the gap could close, but the caution would set up for a fight to the finish.

Railing the top of the St. Francois Country Raceway, Montgomery set the No. 15h in the crosshairs, but the slide and block off the final turn was just enough to keep the driver from Fredericktown, Mo. out of Victory Lane.

With the very loud approval of the fans, Joey Montgomery’s runner up finish marks the second time the Missouri driver has finished on the podium in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition; matching his performance at West Plains Motor Speedway on July 27, 2002.

“It laid rubber down there, so I knew I had to do something else. It was working, but he did what he should have. He came up and that’s exactly what you need to do,” commented Montgomery when asked about the last lap attempt at the win.

With his race including a little bumper tag with Montgomery, the No. 17 of Josh Baughman placed third for his fifth podium of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS.

“I hate giving up starting on the front row there, but overall we had a good night. We’ve been on the podium I think the last month and a half we been out here so we’ve got nothing to hang our head about. Just one of those deals where we could have made a couple changes, but congratulations to Sam. He’s no slouch. Does this for a living, and he’s taught me a lot.”

Coming from eighth, Oklahoma’s Wayne Johnson claimed the fourth spot ahead of Logan Forler, however, the No. 2L did not report the scales and was unfortunately disqualified, putting Kyle Bellm to fifth officially. Joe B. Miller from 11th crossed sixth with Johnny Herrera coming from 12th to finish seventh. Blake Hahn was eighth with Dustin Adams and Matt Covington making up the top-ten.

Bringing 28 drivers to the St. Francois County Raceway, four Heat Races went to Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Kyle Bellm, Dustin Adams, and Wayne Johnson. Suffering engine woes prior to Hot Laps, Seth Bergman found his way into the B-Main where the No. 23 would go on to win. One provisional was awarded based on Regional competition with Danny Thoman earning the spot.

The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented the MAVTV Motorsports Network returns to competition on Sunday, August 21 at the Missouri State Fair Speedway for the $15,000 to win High Roller Classic. Racing at the “Historic Half Mile” gets underway at 7:00 P.M. (CDT).

Brian Brown Tops ASCS Warriors At Missouri State Fair Speedway

SEDALIA, Mo. (July 28, 2016) Rolling into Sedalia, Mo. to settle a grudge, Brian Brown let everyone know who the top dog was as the FVP / Casey’s General Store No. 21 returned to Victory Lane with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps at the Missouri State Fair Speedway.

Topping the night’s Grudge Match over uncle, Danny Lasoski, the Grain Valley, Mo. native gridded the A-Feature third. Trailing Jonathan Cornell, the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28 looked to be well his way to victory No. 6 on the season with the Warrior Region, but it was not meant to be as the engine let go after leading the first 11 laps.

With Brown inheriting the lead, the restart saw Danny Lasoski on his back bumper, but Brown would not be denied victory at the “Historic Half-Mile”, which counts as Brown’s 44th overall with the ASCS Warrior Region.

Lasoski held on to a runner-up finish with Corey Nelson third. Austin Alumbaugh crossed fourth with Taylor Walton making up the top-five. Evan Martin was sixth with Tyler Blank, Matt Close, Scott Comstock, and Tony Bruce, Jr. completing the top-ten.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps hits the track again with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington, Mo. on Saturday, August 20. ASCS National Tour Speedweek Belongs to Sam Hafertepe, Jr. With Lucas Oil Speedway Victory

WHEATLAND, Mo. (June 18, 2016) It was a night of firsts for Sam Hafertepe, Jr. On a cushion fit for a king, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. was unstoppable in his first win at the Lucas Oil Speedway; marking his second victory of the 2016 ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and Bob Westphal Memorial Cup.

With the pair of wins, four top-fives, and a top-ten every night of the 2016 edition of the ASCS Speedway, Hafertepe scored his first Speedweek Championship with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

Sam’s third win on the season, the Keith Dobbs Motorsports No. 15h traded nearly a half-dozen slide-jobs with Brad Loyet for the race lead. Hafertepe commented on the race by saying, “Oh man, me and Brad [Loyet] had it going. It was a hell of a race. If these fans don’t like that, I don’t know what you’re going to like because that was awesome. Brad raced a hell of a race. I got into him off the fourth turn there, but he knows we’re both going for it and he’d done the same to me. He raced me clean and hard.”

Taking off from fourth, Hafertepe shot the runner-up spot on the opening lap with Matt Covington leading the way. Caution on Lap 2, Hafertepe took full advantage of the restart. Getting the slide on the No. 95, with Loyet following to second, Hafertepe began to run away from the field. Finding traffic working the ninth round, the fast line was the top and the task of passing the slower cars was easier said than done.

With Brad closing the gap, the pair began exchanging slide-jobs. Taking the lead for a moment, Loyet’s time at the top was short lived as the No. 05 slipped the cushion off the second turn, allowing Sam to retake the top spot.

Caution on Lap 12, Hafertepe again pulled away.

Working his Hoosiers on the high side all the way around the Lucas Oil Speedway, traffic again came into play as the field worked past the 15th round. Catching the back bumper of the No. 15h again, the pair resumed their exchange with Loyet again taking the lead, only to have Hafertepe steal it right back at both ends of the track.

Cautions on Laps 25 and 26, the final restart saw Hafertepe run away to a 3.995 second advantage at the drop of the checkered flag.

Loyet’s third podium of the season, Brad ended his Speedweek second in overall standings.

“We had a really, really, good racecar. On the start, we kind of got pinched there by Covington and that let Sam get right by us. But I had a really good car. Lapped traffic was key for me, I think I was a whole lot better that Sam in traffic but those yellows just fell at the wrong time for me. We we’re getting ready to pounce both times but hats off to those guys,” commented Loyet.

Bouncing around the top-ten most of the race, Jonathan Cornell used attrition and restarts to bring the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28 home third, “It’s been a pretty exciting night honestly, just some close racing starting in the Heats and the Qualifiers, but; I fell back a little bit at the start of the Feature. We thought the bottom was going to hang around longer than it did so we set up for it. I kind of talked by Crew Chief out of changing the gear and I wish I would have listened to him. We just didn’t have the MPH or the momentum like these guys on the long runs.”

Logan Forler came from 10th to fourth with Channin Tankersley clawing his way from 17th to fifth; this after winning a B-Feature on three wheels due to contact with an infield tire.

From 14th, New York’s Jason Barney was sixth in his first trip to the Lucas Oil Speedway with Tyler Thomas charging from 20th to seventh. Skipping over the cushion early in the race, John Carney II rebounded to eighth with Seth Bergman ninth. From 21st, Blake Hahn completed the top-ten.

With 42 drivers drawing in at Lucas Oil Speedway, the total number of drivers taking part in this year’s Speedweek was 68 with three winners. Saturday at Wheatland saw five Heat Races going to Matt Covington, Brad Loyet, Chance Morton, Brandon Hanks, and Ray Allen Kulhanek. Qualifiers were topped by Matt Covington, Aaron Reutzel, and Wayne Johnson. B-Mains went to Channin Tankersley and Chance Morton. Provisional starts were used by Kyle Bellm and Evan Martin.

Up next of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network is the 45th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by Jack in the Box, happening June 23-25, 2016 at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. The $15,000 to win event is expected to draw close to 60 of the nation’s best drivers. For more information on Dirt Cup, log onto http://www.skagitspeedway.com/.

Brad Loyet Masters The Historic Half-Mile With The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour

SEDALIA, Mo. (June 17, 2016) After a terrible night at the track on Thursday at the Creek County Speedway, Friday’s performance at the Missouri State Fair Speedway made the sting disappear as Missouri’s Brad Loyet parked the Vacuworx Global/Buddy Loyet Motorsports No. 05 in Victory Lane for the second time in 2016 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, and first time at the “Historic Half-Mile”.

Speedweek’s first repeat winner, Loyet gave chase the first 17 laps before finding the line around the Missouri State Fair Speedway and leader, Channin Tankersley, as the pair began to clear slower traffic.

“To win here is really cool. I’ve always wanted to pick up a win here at the “Historic Half-Mile” so now my names on the list but, it definitely wasn’t easy. Channin [Tankersley] was setting a really quick pace out there and I didn’t know if I was going to catch him. I though lapped traffic was going to help me, but it actually hurt me getting into the dirt air and throwing up a lot of dust,” commented Loyet, who is not third in Speedweek standings.

“Right when I got by him, the Nose Wing fell on the Hood, and I like great, what are the odds of this? But it all worked out. It feels awesome to win after last night and the fiasco that happened there. To come out here and win puts a nail in the coffin and proves a point that we’re not here to mess around. We’re here to win.”

Gridding the No. 05 fourth, Loyet found his way to the runner-up spot on the fifth round. Chasing Channin Tankersley, the back of the field came into view on Lap 9 with the Berryman Motorsports No. 31b of Tankersley still able to keep Loyet at a half straightaway deficit.

Working top and bottom on the Sedalia oval, the pair ran in their own world as Loyet finally started to gain ground on Tankersley. Under continuous green flag laps, Channin began having to search around to clear slower cars, allowing Loyet to close the gap.

With the run building, Loyet shot to the lead on Lap 18. Putting several car lengths on the No. 31b, Tankersley began pedaling back to Loyet’s back bumper as the field came to five to go. Game on with the field coming to the final two laps, the white flag was out with Channin setting up for the run, only to see the race’s only caution fly.

Restacked single file, Loyet was not to be denied as the final two laps saw the No. 05 pull away.

A massive turn around for Tankersley, who has crashed out the last two nights, the runner-up finish was just what the Berryman Motorsports team needed.

Reflecting on the race, Channin stated, “We had a good car starting out, just got a little free there at the end. That’s just part of it, the track started going away but Brad [Loyet] did pretty good. He ran the last half of the race like you’re supposed too but I’m just tickled to death right now. I would have like to have won it, but second is way better than what we’ve been doing. We’ve had a rough start to Speedweek so I can’t thank all my guys enough for busting their butts and not giving up on me. Feels good to walk away with a podium finish.”

Coming from the 14th starting spot, Johnny Herrera’s night paid dividends as the New Mexico veteran’s seventh podium finish of the season brought Herrera to within a single point of Sam Hafertepe, Jr. in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Driver Standings, and second in Speedweek points.

“We had an awesome Racecar. Too bad we started 14th because I think we may have had something for them boys. Just had work extra hard to get to those cars but we had one hell of a Hot Rod tonight. Big thanks to Chris, my crew guy. We got behind on the start of the night. We had to change motors so we didn’t have any Hot Laps. We put in an old motor in that we borrowed from a guy down in Texarkana so I need to give a big shout out to Mark Huddleston. He let me borrow the motor and this thing is probably 10 years old but it’s an old hoss and it ran good.”

Tyler Thomas crossed fourth with Matt Covington fifth. Seth Bergman worked to sixth from the 10th start spot with Josh Baughman eighth. Wayne Johnson from 12th crossed ninth, followed by Aaron Reutzel to round out the top-ten after having to come from deep in the B-Feature due to an engine swap on the No. 87.

Drawing 36 drivers to the Missouri State Fair Speedway, four Heat Races went to Tyler Thomas, Josh Baughman, Brandon Hanks, and Randy Martin. The night’s B-Main went to Jonathan Cornell. A Regional Provisional was awarded to Cody Baker as the first non-transfer ASCS Warrior Region Driver with 100% attendance on the 2016 season. No National Tour Provisionals were utilized.

The 24th ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and third Bob Westphal Memorial Cup concludes on Saturday, June 18 at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks”, the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. Races are set to begin at 7:30 P.M. (CDT). For more information, log onto http://www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

Even Martin was fourth with Clinton Boyles making his first ASCS Winged start to round out the top-five from 15th.

Tony Bruce, Jr, Danny Thoman, Chad Goff, Ben Brown, and Miles Paulus made up the top-ten. The Tiger Towing Hard Charger was Clinton Boyles.

Jack Dover Wins ASCS Warrior Region Bud Shootout At U.S. 36 Raceway

CAMERON, Mo. (June 10, 2016) For the 11th time in his career, Nebraska’s Jack Dover parked his familiar No. 53 in Victory Lane with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps; topping the field at the U.S. 36 Raceway in the annual Budweiser Shootout.

Earning an extra $500 with a win in the night’s second Heat, Dover drew the pole for the night’s 25 lap A-Feature. Jumping to the point, the cushion was the place to be for the Home Pride Motorsports entry, as Dover led flag-to-flag at the high-banked, three-eighths mile oval.

While Dover was able to keep several restart attempts for the lead at bay, the race for second was seemingly non-stop as Tony Bruce, Jr. and Jonathan Cornell traded the runner-up spot throughout the race with Bruce making the last lap pass for the silver position in the Smith Racing No. 86. Cornell would have to settle for the bronze with Jordan Boston and Mitchell Moore completing the top-five.

Cody Baker from 13th crossed sixth with Logan Forler seventh. Jay Russell was eighth with Chad Goff earning the night’s Tiger Towing Hard Charger Award coming from 18th to ninth. Goff received half the night’s 50/50 drawing, worth $330. Toby Chapman made up the top-ten.

Each of the night’s Heat Races was $500 winner take all with Jordan Boston, Jack Dover, and Tony Bruce, Jr. each earning Heat Race wins.

Victory Belongs To Cornell With The ASCS Warriors In The Tribute To Jesse at Double X Speedway

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (May 29, 2016) Score another one for Jonathan Cornell, as the driver of the Kiowa Line Builders/Starline Brass No. 28 picked up the win at the Double X Speedway on Sunday night in the annual Tribute to Jesse Hockett with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

Jumping to the lead on the start, Cornell relinquished the top stop working off turn four on the opening lap to Cody Baker who pulled off a textbook slide job. Caution working Lap 3, the restart had Cornell all over the back bumper of the No. 38. Looking at all avenues, the chance to strike came on Lap 6 as Cornell held the lead by a nose at the line.

Working to traffic, Cornell kept the field at bay as Wayne Johnson moved to the runner-up spot and began to close the gap. Caution just past the race’s half-way point, Johnson lined up the No. 2c for the shot at gold, but saw the car ball up on the right front; giving Jonathan plenty of breathing room.

Fending on the City Vending No. 2c on the races final restart with six laps to run, Jonathan Cornell picked up career win No. 27 with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

Wayne Johnson held off Kyle Bellm in the closing laps for second. Randy Martin fought to fourth with Cody Baker settling for the fifth spot. Evan Martin was sixth with Chris Morgan seventh. T.J. Muths crossed eighth followed by Tyler Blank from 17th. The top-ten rounded out with Tyler Thomas.

The Tiger Towing High Point Driver of the Night was Corey Nelson, who also took the challenge. The No. 34 made it up to 13th.

Next of the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will be the rescheduled Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo. on Friday, June 3. Brandon Hanks Triumphs in Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Mo. (May 7, 2016) For the third time in 2016, Tennessee’s Brandon Hanks parked his D&B Farms/Moose Tracks No. 84 in Victory Lane, topping the Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps Open Wheel Showdown at the Lucas Oil Speedway.

The co-sanctioned event with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps and the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, the event drew 38 drivers to the Lucas Oil Speedway.

Brandon’s third overall win on the season, the win counts as Hanks’ first with the Red River Region, and second with the Warrior Region.

Taking off from the pole, Hanks had to outrun Johnny Herrera for the lead. Not doing so on the initial start, the restart following a four car pileup saw Hanks take off. Giving chase into slower traffic, Herrera’s night ended on Lap 6 as Johnny tried to avoid a stalled car, sending the No. 45x flipping into the wall exiting the second turn. Herrera was able to walk away unharmed.

Underway with 8th starting Derek Hagar to his back bumper, Hanks was able to hold off the charge of the No. 9jr as Hagar had to contend with the hard charging No. 17 of Josh Baughman.

Pulling to a nearly four second advantage in the close laps, slower traffic looked like it was going to serve up trouble for Hanks as Hagar and Baughman closed quickly, but laps would run short as Hanks crossed 0.675 seconds ahead of Derek Hagar.

Josh Baughman was third with Wayne Johnson and Zach Daum making up the top-five.

Jack Dover crossed sixth followed by Matt Covington.

Covington was scheduled to start sixth, but an engine change after his Heat Race moved him to the tail of his qualifying group, putting the No. 95 14th on the lineup.

Eighth went to Cody Baker with Jonathan Cornell ninth. Spinning on Lap 2 while running fifth, Blake Hahn came back to finish out the top-ten.

The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products heads back to Texas this coming weekend with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network for the Texas World Dirt Track Championship at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, happening May 13-14, 2016. Brian Brown Earns First Career Lakeside Speedway Victory with Lucas Oil ASCS

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 5, 2016) Nothing is as sweet as a hometown victory, and for Brian Brown, it’s a win that’s been a long time coming as the FVP/Casey’s General Store No. 21 broke into Victory Lane at the famed Lakeside Speedway for the first time in his career; topping the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic presented by Racinboys.com.

Becoming the fifth different winner of the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in 2016, Brown’s win in the Impact Signs/Weld No. 21 is the 16th time that Brown has topped the National Tour, and fifth consecutive year he has earned a Lucas Oil ASCS victory.

“We’ve led a few Outlaw races and let them slip away, but no we hadn’t before tonight,” said an overjoyed Brian Brown in Victory Lane when asked to confirm this was in fact his first Sprint Car victory at Lakeside Speedway.

“To win this close to home, we have a lot of our partners here. Obviously Casey’s General Store, FVP, Impact Signs, Weld Wheels; their on our nose wing tonight and have been a huge supporter of Brian Brown Racing since day one. Champion Oil, Ditzfield Transfer, MC Power, Maxim Chassis, Garrett Engines, Chad Morgan, Wyatt Burks, Michael Williams, my Dad, grandpa George….it seems like when he’s here, I just seem to run a little bit better. He has that calming effect on me and has been a huge part of my career and I have to also thank my wife, Heather but it’s good to win here at home I can tell you that. When you’ve won 15-20 races a year, you kind of take that for granted and this our first one this year.”

Gridding the night’s 30 lap A-Feature outside the front row, Brown would have to play the role of the hunter as Blake Hahn shot into the race lead from the pole.

Losing ground to the Lucas Oil No. 52, the pair found the tail end of the field by the 10th lap. Giving Brown the chance to make up ground as Hahn wrestled with slower traffic, however, Brown had his own battle to contend with as Aaron Reutzel moved past the No. 21 on Lap 15. Able to work back around Reutzel’s No. 87 the following laps, Brown made his bid for the lead on Lap 17.

Pulling all the way up to Blake’s rear bumper, Brown broke line to the bottom through turns three and four, but the move was quickly negated as the caution flew for Josh Baughman who had come to a stop off the back straightaway with fire on the left side of the car. Josh was okay.

Not able to overtake the No. 52 on the restart, Brown was able to hold off the Dissolvalloy No. 87, who fell to fifth on the restart as Johnny Herrera and Ian Madsen worked by for third and fourth. Working Lap 22, the red flew as Kyle Bellm and Brad Loyet tangled off the second turn battling for 10th. Both drivers were okay.

On the restart, Brown pulled even with Hahn through turns one and two, giving Blake just enough room to race between the No. 21 and the wall to hold the lead. Falling to a half straightaway, Brian was quick to regain his momentum, completing the slide job off the second turn on Lap 23 for the top spot, going on to win by 1.702 seconds.

Blake Hahn’s runner-up finish is his first podium of the year with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

“This car was dialed in tonight from Hot Laps all the way to the A-Feature. These guys did great getting the car right, but congratulations to Brian Brown on the win. If I can run second to him on any night, that’s a good night for us but we just need to get more comfortable on the big tracks. I think once I get more seat time, we’ll be alright.”

Trying to setup Hahn for a last lap pass, New Mexico’s Johnny Herrera would have to settle for the show position in the MVT No. 45x, but it was good enough to push Herrera back into the points lead by 12 markers over Matt Covington.

“We started eighth there and I really didn’t have a very good start. I don’t know what I did, if I spun the tires or what, but we ended up losing two or three spots, but the car was good the whole race and we got pretty close there at the end.”

Ian Madsen came home fourth with Danny Lasoski advancing 10 spots to complete the top-five as the KSE Hard Charger of the Night.

Seth Bergman, who started 15th, crossed sixth with Aaron Reutzel slipping to seventh after racing into the top three in the race’s midpoint. Matt Covington was eighth with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. ninth. Wayne Johnson made up the top-ten.

Four Heat Races for 35 drivers saw wins going to Blake Hahn, Matt Covington, Kyle Bellm, and Brandon Hanks. The B-Feature was topped by Brad Loyet. A regional provisional was used by Evan Martin as the night was co-sanctioned with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps. Jonathan Cornell was the highest finishing Warrior Region driver.

The Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network competes next at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track for the Texas World Dirt Track Championship, happening May 13-14, 2016. Tickets can be purchased now at http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps hooks up with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products on Saturday, May 7 at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. for the Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown.

Rain Cuts ASCS Warrior Region Short at Callaway Raceway

FULTON, Mo. (April 29, 2016) With cars headed to the staging area, it looked as if the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps was going to win the race against Mother Nature, but the top came in and the bottom fell out as rain swept across the Callaway Raceway.

ASCS Warrior Region officials are currently working with the Callaway Raceway for a date to reschedule. The date, to be announced, will be a complete program.

Three Heats for 23 drivers did see action at the Callaway Raceway with plenty of racing to at least curb the racefan’s appetite. In the first Heat alone, three drivers led laps with Randy Martin taking the win. Heat two saw Brad Loyet take the lead just before the half-way point for a runaway victory. The final Heat was all Evan Martin.

All drivers will receive show up points based off car count. As the A-Feature lineup showed all 23 starting, all drivers will receive 87 points.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will take on the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network on Thursday, May 5 for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic presented by Racinboys.com at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. Advance tickets are on sale at http://www.racinboys.com.

John Carney II Tops Exciting ASCS Red River/Warrior Region Showdown at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 23, 2016) The first showdown of the season between the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products and the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs was a thriller as El Paso, Texas shoe John Carney II walked away with the night’s $2,000 score at the Springfield Raceway.

Being a co-sanctioned event, the win counts as Carney’s first with the ASCS Warrior Region, and second in ASCS Red River competition.

Gridding the John James Racing No. 4j fifth, Caney jumped top shelf on the start, following sixth starting Hahn to the front of the field. Chasing down early race leader, Mitchell Moore, Hahn raced to the lead on Lap 7 as the leaders found the tail of the field.

Trying to keep pace with the CSR Garage No. 52, Carney would have to let traffic work to his advantage in order to run down Blake Hahn. Working past the race’s halfway point, Hahn found himself mired behind slower cars. Stuck on the bottom of the Springfield Raceway, the rolling roadblock was just what Carney needed.

With Hahn’s advantage dwindling, Carney’s run for the lead came as the field worked to the final five laps. Working Lap 21, Carney stuck the No. 4j to the top and to the lead. Searching the track for lines to run, Hahn found rubber. Going three wide though traffic for the lead, Carney kept just enough momentum to hold off the Lucas Oil No. 52.

Caution the final lap, Hahn’s night nearly ended as Chance Morton spun directing in front of the leaders. On the brakes, Hahn did catch the Right Rear of the No. 7m, but was able to continue rolling. Trying for the lead on the restart, Carney would not be denied his sixth win of the 2016 season in his first trip to the Springfield oval.

Challenged off the final turn by Jonathan Cornell for the runner-up spot, Hahn was able to hold the position for his second podium finish of the weekend. Jonathan Cornell, who was also the night’s Tiger Towing High Point Driver of the Night, completed the night’s podium. Brandon Hanks came from seventh to fourth with Mitchell Moore rounding out the top-five.

Cody Baker was sixth with Mickey Walker seventh from 11th. Jason McDougal crossed eighth with Jay Russell and Steven Russell making up the top-ten.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps sees action again on Friday, April 29 at the Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo. The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products joins up with the Warrior Region on Saturday, May 7 at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Brandon Hanks Pockets $5,000 at the Missouri State Fair Speedway

SEDALIA, Mo. (April 17, 2016) The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps kicked off the 2016 season at the Missouri State Fair Speedway and the Peak Sport and Spine Spring Fling at the Historic Half-Mile with Tennessee’s Brandon Hanks pocketing the night’s $5,000 winner’s check.

The win is Hanks’ second career ASCS victory, and first with the ASCS Warrior Region.

Gridding the field fifth, the race began with Cody Baker taking off with the lead. Surviving early reds and cautions, Baker relinquished the top spot to Jonathan Cornell as the race worked past the third round.

Working lap nine with a comfortable advantage, slower traffic came into play and served a game over flip to Cornell down the back straight with Baker also having issues while running second. Both drivers were okay. Handing the lead to Brandon Hanks, the driver of the Hanks Motorsports No. 84 played it cool with his tires, pulling away to over a straightaway at the checkered flag.

Seth Bergman came from seventh to second with Brian Brown from ninth to complete the afternoon’s podium. Kyle Bellm crossed fourth with Brian Clauson fifth.

Blake Hahn was sixth with Wayne Johnson taking the afternoon’s Hard Charger honors with a 20th to seventh place run. Tyler Thomas from 13th was eighth with Josh Baughman rebounding from a spin at the start to finish ninth. Even Martin completed the top-ten.

Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will see action again on Saturday, April 23 at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo. The night is co-sanctioned with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, which will be at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan. the night before.
